Recently, we were invited by Macedonia 2025 to Macedonia, one of the smallest countries in the Balkans. The country is ranked as number 12 on the Doing Business list. A country of two million inhabitants located in the middle of a region that may not be known for the simplest regulations when it comes to business. This is the result of a long-term plan and structured work from both the government and the civilian sector.
Collaboration is the key to success
Macedonia 2025 is a think-thank founded by the Macedonian diaspora, which presented a vision for the country’s appearance in 2025. In close cooperation with the authorities, the organization has been able to influence the country’s development. Every year, Macedonia 2025 organizes an event, inviting partners and activists from all over the world. The event is sponsored by the President of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, that we got to meet and exchange some thoughts about the IT industry in Sweden, Europe and the world.
Macedonia is truly a country of change and it is seen everywhere, old buildings are restored, new takes shape. Many new companies are established, especially in the IT / Media sector. As SEEBA works with both the private and public sector, we are gladly inspired by success examples around the world. Sweden competes in a global market, and it is always necessary to seek inspiration from other countries and regions while focusing on knowledge exchange.
During our trip, we were given the opportunity to talk about a variety of challenges and problems that both the region’s companies and the country’s leaders are facing. Many of the problems are linked to local socio-economic factors, but others are highly relevant to a majority of Europe’s countries, including Sweden.
