Funding is not easy
Studies show that entrepreneurs with a foreign background have a more positive attitude towards hiring staff and increasing profitability, in comparison to entrepreneurs with a Swedish background. However, business owners with a foreign background find it significantly more difficult to get bank loans and funding for their businesses.
“The reason behind such facts is that this group usually have a bit lower knowledge of how the banking system works, but it can also be that banks have poorer response to this particular group. This way we lose a lot of companies that can both be beneficial on the Swedish market, but also through their contacts with the international market”, says Jonnie Nordensky from the Swedish Agency for Growth.
